DTF Gang Sheet Size Guide: Fit More Designs, Pay Less Per Print

A gang sheet is one long sheet of DTF film that you fill with as many designs as you can fit — different logos, different sizes, different quantities. You pay for the sheet, not per design, so the goal is simple: waste as little film as possible. Here's how to size one properly.

How gang sheet pricing works

Our film is 12 inches (30.5 cm) wide, and you choose the length — from 12″ × 15″ (from $15) up to 5 metres. Longer sheets cost less per centimetre, which is why packing one long sheet beats ordering several short ones. Build yours with the online gang sheet builder — the auto-nester arranges your uploads to minimise wasted space, so you only pay for the film you actually use.

Common print sizes (so you can do the maths)

Print type Typical size
Left-chest logo 7–10 cm wide
Cap / beanie front 5–8 cm wide
Standard front print (adult tee) 25–30 cm wide
Large back print 30 cm wide (full film width)
Sleeve print 5–8 cm wide

Worked example: a 20-shirt club order

Say you're printing 20 tees for a footy club: 20 left-chest logos (9 cm), 20 large back prints (30 cm), and 10 sleeve numbers (6 cm).

  • Back prints: 30 cm wide fills the film width, so 20 prints stack vertically ≈ 20 × ~35 cm of length (with spacing)
  • Chest logos: 3 fit across the 30.5 cm width, so 20 logos ≈ 7 rows ≈ ~70 cm of length
  • Sleeve numbers: 5 across ≈ 2 rows ≈ ~15 cm

Total: one sheet roughly 7.9 m of layout — or more realistically, let the auto-nester interleave the small logos into the gaps beside the back prints and shave real length (and dollars) off the sheet. That interleaving is exactly what manual layout misses.

Five rules for cheaper gang sheets

  1. Leave ~1 cm between designs. Tighter packing risks overlap when cutting; bigger gaps waste film. (Our builder spaces automatically.)
  2. Rotate tall designs 90° if they fit the width sideways — sideways nesting often saves whole rows.
  3. Batch small items aggressively. Chest logos, sleeve hits and cap fronts are gap-fillers — add them to every order.
  4. Upload at the size you'll press. 300 DPI PNG with transparent background, sized to the real print dimensions. Scaling up later costs sharpness.
  5. One long sheet beats two short ones. Combine this month's jobs into one build before checkout.

FAQs

What's the minimum gang sheet size?

12″ × 15″, from $15. One-off single design? A custom single from $12 may be simpler.

How fast will my sheet ship?

Order before 2pm Sydney time and it dispatches the same business day, Australia-wide, with free shipping over $100.

How do I cut and press the designs?

Cut each design out of the sheet, position it, press with a heat press, and peel hot. Full instructions are included with every order — or grab the free sample pack to practise first.
